Form Energy

Form Energy, founded in 2017 and headquartered in Weirton, West Virginia, develops and manufactures iron-air batteries that store electricity for multiple days, aimed at utilities and grid operators. The company has roughly 1,000 employees and a project pipeline exceeding 750 MW under agreement. Its flagship site is Form Factory 1, a 550,000-plus square foot battery manufacturing plant in Weirton that began trial production in 2024, with additional R&D and engineering facilities in Somerville, Massachusetts and Berkeley, California, plus a pilot plant in Eighty Four, Pennsylvania.
