Bureau of Prisons/Federal Prison System

The Federal Bureau of Prisons, an agency of the Department of Justice, operates the federal prison system with more than 110 institutions nationwide and a workforce of over 35,000 employees. Its maintenance staff are federal civilian law enforcement employees who keep correctional institutions running, maintaining utility systems, boilers, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, and many also supervise and train inmate work crews in facilities trades.
